Part 1; Letter No. 1

Letter No. 1

To a devotee

Always remain drunk with Lord’s name, unmindful of purity or impurity, sleeping or dreaming. If there is any unholy object in the world it becomes holiest of the holy by contact with Lord’s name! Name covers all mystical ceremonies and is identical with the Lord. Nothing is greater than Name. Krishna’s name is greater than Krishna Himself. It cures all worldly troubles, not to speak of bodily ailments. Go on taking Name; the whole world will become yours and you, His. You will remain in everlasting joy. None of the three sorts of troubles (Aadhibhoutik, Aadhideivik and Aadhyatmic) will ever overtake you. To take Krishna’s name is the one supreme duty and aim of life. If Name were forgotten, the pleasures of kingdom of heaven would be turned into intense suffering of hell. Forgetting Krishna one becomes slave of Maya; remembering Him, one becomes liberated. Even the status of Siva or Brahma is not equal to remembrance of Krishna. Swayed by transient worldly pleasures, if one forgets Krishna, it tantamounts to drinking poison by the handful.
