শ্রীক্ষেত্র পুরীধাম শ্রীশ্রী ঠাকুর হরনাথের অপ্রাকৃত লীলা ও জীবনচরিতে এক পরম পবিত্র তীর্থস্থান। পুরীর বিস্তীর্ণ বালুকাবেলা, সমুদ্রের গম্ভীর গর্জন এবং শ্রীজগন্নাথ দেবের পুণ্য সান্নিধ্য—সব মিলিয়ে ভক্তদের কাছে এই স্থানটি যেন এক জীবন্ত বৈকুণ্ঠে পরিণত হয়েছিল। ✨

১৯২৫ সালের জুলাই মাসে, রথযাত্রার পুণ্য লগ্নে, পুরীর বুকে আয়োজিত হয় ঠাকুর হরনাথের ষাট বছর পূর্তি উপলক্ষে ঐতিহাসিক ‘ডায়মন্ড জুবিলী’ বা হীরক জয়ন্তী উৎসব। বোম্বে, মাদ্রাজ, নাগপুর এবং বাংলাসহ ভারতের নানা প্রান্ত থেকে আগত হাজার হাজার ভক্তের পদচারণায় মুখরিত হয়ে ওঠে পুরীর ‘হরনাথ অনাথ আশ্রম’। এই বিশাল মহোৎসবের সমস্ত ব্যবস্থাপনার ভার পরম আনন্দে নিজেদের কাঁধে তুলে নিয়েছিলেন কটকের দুই একনিষ্ঠ ভক্ত—শ্রী টহল প্রসাদ রায় এবং শ্রী যতীশ চন্দ্র রায় চৌধুরী। 🌸

🔸 পাণ্ডার দম্ভ ও ঠাকুরের লীলার সূচনা

এই আনন্দঘন পরিবেশে দয়াময় ঠাকুর হরনাথের অন্তরে এক অপূর্ব ইচ্ছা জাগ্রত হলো। তিনি চাইলেন শ্রীজগন্নাথ দেবের সেবক পুরীর পাণ্ডাদের পরম আদরে ভোজন করাবেন। ৩রা জুলাই সকালে উৎসবের আনন্দমুখর পরিবেশে, আশ্রমের প্রধান পাণ্ডা নরসিংহ প্রসাদ পূজারী (নরসিংহ পাণ্ডা) ঠাকুরের কাছে আসেন ভোজের আয়োজন নিয়ে আলোচনা করতে। কিন্তু উৎসবের জাঁকজমক এবং বহু ধনী ভক্তের উপস্থিতি দেখে পাণ্ডার মনে প্রবল লোভ ও অহংকার জন্ম নেয়। তিনি ভেবেছিলেন, এই সুযোগে বিপুল অর্থ আদায় করে নিজের আখের গুছিয়ে নেবেন। 💰

অত্যন্ত দম্ভ ও অবজ্ঞার সুরে তিনি ঠাকুরকে বললেন:

🗣️ “শুনুন মশাই, পুরীর পাণ্ডাদের খাওয়ানো অত সহজ কথা নয়। অমুক বড় রাজা ১০,০০০ টাকা ব্যয় করে পাণ্ডা-ভোজনের আয়োজন করেছেন, এরপর আরেকজন জমিদারও বিপুল অর্থ খরচ করে ভোজ দিচ্ছেন। তাঁদের সেই রাজকীয় ভোজ শেষ হওয়ার পরেই কেবল আপনার ভোজের কথা ভাবা যেতে পারে। তাছাড়া, আপনার এই সামান্য ২,০০০ টাকা বাজেটের মধ্যে পুরীর সমস্ত পাণ্ডাকে খাওয়ানো কোনোভাবেই সম্ভব নয়।”

দয়াময় ঠাকুরের দীনতা ও সরলতার সুযোগ নিয়ে পাণ্ডা তাঁর অর্থ ও প্রতিপত্তির দম্ভ প্রকাশ করতে চেয়েছিলেন।

⚡ রুদ্ররূপী পরমেশ্বর ও অমোঘ বজ্রবাণী

পাণ্ডার এই তীব্র অহংকার ও অর্থের দম্ভ শুনে দয়াময় ঠাকুর হরনাথের মানব-ছদ্মবেশের অন্তরালে থাকা পরম ব্রহ্মের ঐশ্বরিক তেজ প্রজ্জ্বলিত হয়ে উঠল। তাঁর চিরশান্তরূপ নিমেষের মধ্যে এক মহাশক্তিশালী রুদ্রমূর্তিতে পরিণত হলো। তাঁর পদ্মের মতো বড় বড় চোখ দুটি রক্তিম ও জ্যোতির্ময় হয়ে উঠল। আশ্রমের সামনে দৃশ্যমান শ্রীজগন্নাথ মন্দিরের চূড়ার দিকে স্থির ও তীব্র দৃষ্টি নিক্ষেপ করে তিনি মেঘমন্দ্র স্বরে বলে উঠলেন:

👁️ “পাণ্ডা বাবা! আমি গরিব বলে কি তুমি আমাকে এভাবে অপমান করছ? তুমি কি জানো না, যাঁর শ্রীচরণে জগতের সমস্ত ঋষি-মুনি, সাধু-সন্তরা নিজেদের মস্তক অবনত করেন, সেই হরনাথ আজ তোমার চরণে লুটিয়ে পড়েছে, অথচ তোমার মন গলল না? তুমি কি আমাকে এই পুরুষোত্তম ধাম ত্যাগ করে চলে যেতে বলছ?”

কণ্ঠস্বর আরও গম্ভীর করে সমুদ্রের দিকে ইঙ্গিত করে তিনি বললেন:

🌊 “ঐ দেখো, তোমার সামনেই পড়ে রয়েছে রত্নগর্ভা মহাসমুদ্র, যা অনন্ত রত্নের আধার। হরনাথ যদি ইচ্ছা করেন, তবে এখনই তোমার পায়ে অজস্র মণি-মুক্তো ও রত্ন এনে স্তূপাকার করে দিতে পারেন! মনে রেখো পাণ্ডা বাবা, যে শনি (ঈশ্বর) তোমাকে রাস্তার ধুলো থেকে তুলে এনে আজ রাজকীয় সিংহাসনে বসিয়েছেন, সেই শনিই চাইলে তোমাকে আবার এক মুহূর্তের মধ্যে রাস্তার ভিখারি বানিয়ে দিতে পারেন! তুমি যদি বিশ্বাস না করো, তবে দেখে নিও—হরনাথের একটিমাত্র আহ্বানে এই পুরী ধামের সমস্ত দেবতারা স্বয়ং নেমে এসে পাণ্ডাদের সাথে সানন্দে এই ভোজ গ্রহণ করবেন।”

🙏 অহংকার চূর্ণ ও অলৌকিক সমাধান

ঠাকুর হরনাথের এই মহাশক্তিশালী রূপ এবং অমোঘ বজ্রবাণী শুনে নরসিংহ পাণ্ডা ভয়ে ও বিস্ময়ে থরথর করে কাঁপতে লাগলেন। তাঁর অন্তরের সমস্ত দম্ভ, অহংকার ও লোভ এক নিমেষে কর্পূরের মতো উড়ে গেল। তিনি উপলব্ধি করলেন, যাঁর সামনে তিনি দাঁড়িয়ে আছেন, তিনি কোনো সাধারণ মানুষ বা সাধু নন, স্বয়ং বিশ্বব্রহ্মাণ্ডের অধিপতি।

ভীত ও কম্পিত হয়ে তিনি ঠাকুরের শ্রীচরণে লুটিয়ে পড়লেন এবং অশ্রুসিক্ত নয়নে করজোড়ে বললেন, “দয়াময়, আমাকে ক্ষমা করুন! আপনার পাণ্ডা-ভোজনের জন্য আমি আপনার কাছ থেকে একটি পয়সাও নেব না। আমি নিজের খরচেই এই সমস্ত পাণ্ডাদের খাওয়ানোর ব্যবস্থা করব।” তিনি অগ্রিম অর্থ নিতেও অস্বীকার করলেন।

কিন্তু ঠাকুরের একনিষ্ঠ ভক্তরা তা হতে দিলেন না। কলিকাতা তত্ত্ব প্রচারিণী সভার শ্রী দ্বিজেন্দ্রনাথ বসু এবং বরিশালের পুলিশ পরিদর্শক শ্রী অক্ষয় কুমার গুপ্ত তৎক্ষণাৎ উপস্থিত ভক্তদের কাছ থেকে ঠিক ২,০০০ টাকা সংগ্রহ করে জোরপূর্বক পাণ্ডা-ঠাকুরের হাতে তুলে দিলেন এবং তিনিও পরম ভক্তিভরে তা গ্রহণ করলেন।

এরপর এক বিস্ময়কর লীলা সংঘটিত হলো:

✨ যে ধনী রাজা প্রথমে পাণ্ডাদের খাওয়ানোর জন্য দিন ধার্য করেছিলেন, হঠাৎ একটি জরুরি ও আশঙ্কাজনক এক্সপ্রেস টেলিগ্রাম আসায় তিনি ভোজ না করিয়েই তড়িঘড়ি পুরী ছাড়তে বাধ্য হলেন।

✨ অন্যদিকে, দ্বিতীয় ধনী ব্যক্তিটিও কোনো এক অজ্ঞাত কারণে তাঁর ভোজের আয়োজন বাতিল করলেন।

✨ ফলে সমস্ত জাগতিক বাধা অলৌকিকভাবে দূর হয়ে গেল এবং ঠাকুর হরনাথের পাণ্ডা-ভোজনই সবার প্রথমে অনুষ্ঠিত হওয়ার সুযোগ পেল।

🍛 শ্রী জগন্নাথ বল্লভ মঠে মহোৎসব

অবশেষে সমাগত হলো সেই পরম মাহেন্দ্রক্ষণ। পুরীর সুবিখ্যাত ‘জগন্নাথ বল্লভ মঠ’-এর বিশাল উন্মুক্ত ছাদে প্রায় ৩,০০০ পাণ্ডাকে একত্রিত করে পরম তৃপ্তিসহকারে ভোজন করানো শুরু হলো। শত শত তরুণ ও উৎসাহী স্বেচ্ছাসেবক অত্যন্ত সুশৃঙ্খলভাবে এবং রাজকীয় মর্যাদায় এই বিশাল ভোজের তদারকি করতে লাগলেন।

ঠাকুর হরনাথ স্বয়ং সেই প্রাঙ্গণে উপস্থিত থেকে নিজ হাতে এবং ভালোবাসাময় দৃষ্টিতে সমস্ত পাণ্ডাদের সেবা ও পরিবেশন করাতে লাগলেন। যে বিশাল ভোজ অন্য ধনীদের ১০,০০০ টাকা খরচ করেও সম্ভব হচ্ছিল না, তা ঠাকুর হরনাথের অলৌকিক ইচ্ছায় এবং অন্তহীন প্রেমের মহিমায় মাত্র ২,০০০ টাকাতেই পরম বৈভব ও রাজকীয় সম্মানের সাথে সুসম্পন্ন হলো। 💖

ভোজন শেষে সকল পাণ্ডা পরম তৃপ্ত ও আনন্দিত হৃদয়ে ঠাকুর হরনাথের নামে জয়ধ্বনি দিতে দিতে এবং তাঁর শ্রীচরণে মাথা ঠেকিয়ে বিদায় নিলেন। পুরীর আকাশ-বাতাস “জয় জগন্নাথ” ও “জয় হরনাথ” ধ্বনিতে মুখরিত হয়ে উঠল।

এই অভূতপূর্ব ঘটনাটি প্রমাণ করে দিল যে, ভক্তির কাছে জাগতিক ধন-দৌলত অত্যন্ত তুচ্ছ; ঠাকুর হরনাথের প্রেমের স্পর্শে অহংকারী হৃদয়ের দম্ভ চিরতরে চূর্ণ হয়ে যায় এবং সেখানে পবিত্র ভক্তির যমুনা প্রবাহিত হয়। 🌺🙏

🌊 The Divine Miracle of Sri Sri Thakur Haranath in Shrikshetra Puridham: The ‘Panda Bhojan’ and the Shattering of Pride 🌊

Shrikshetra Puridham holds a paramount position as a supremely sacred pilgrimage site in the divine pastimes and life of Sri Sri Thakur Haranath. To his devotees, the vast sandy beach of Puri, the deep, solemn roar of the ocean, and the holy proximity of Lord Jagannath combined to make this place appear as a veritable Vaikuntha on earth. ✨

In July 1925, coinciding with the auspicious time of the Ratha Yatra, the historic ‘Diamond Jubilee’ celebration, marking Thakur Haranath’s sixtieth birth anniversary, was organized in Puri. The ‘Haranath Anath Ashram’ resounded with the footsteps of thousands of devotees who had traveled from all corners of India, including Bombay, Madras, Nagpur, and Bengal. Two dedicated devotees from Cuttack, Sri Tahal Prasad Roy and Sri Jatish Chandra Roy Choudhury, joyfully took the entire responsibility of management for this grand festival upon their shoulders. 🌸

🔸 The Pride of the Panda and the Initiation of the Divine Play

Within this atmosphere of profound joy, a unique desire awakened in the heart of the merciful Thakur Haranath. He wished to organize a grand feast (bhojan) for the Pandas (priests) of Puri, who are the dedicated servants of Lord Jagannath. On the morning of July 3rd, amidst the joyous festive setting, the chief Panda of the Ashram, Narasingha Prasad Pujari (Narasingha Panda), approached Thakur to discuss the arrangements for the feast.

However, witnessing the grandeur of the festival and the presence of numerous wealthy devotees, deep greed and arrogance took root in the Panda’s mind. He saw this as an opportunity to amass great wealth for his own benefit. 💰

In a tone full of extreme arrogance and disdain, he addressed Thakur, saying:

🗣️ “Listen sir, feeding the Pandas of Puri is not an easy task. A certain prominent king is spending 10,000 rupees to organize a Panda feast, and another landlord is also spending a vast sum on a banquet. It is only after their grand, royal feasts are over that your feast can even be considered. Besides, it is completely impossible to feed all the Pandas of Puri within your meager budget of 2,000 rupees.”

Taking advantage of Thakur’s external humility and simplicity, the Panda sought to flaunt the pride of his wealth and status.

⚡ The Supreme Lord in Rudra Form and His Infallible Thunderous Voice

Upon hearing the Panda’s intense arrogance and the pride of his wealth, the divine brilliance of the Supreme Brahman hidden within Thakur Haranath’s human disguise ignited. His perpetually peaceful demeanor was transformed in a moment into a form of mighty, formidable Rudra. His large, lotus-like eyes turned red and radiant. Fixing a firm and piercing gaze toward the visible spire of the Sri Jagannath Temple in front of the Ashram, he proclaimed in a voice like thunder:

👁️ “Panda Baba! Are you insulting me because you believe I am poor? Do you not know that at whose holy feet all the sages, ascetics, and saints of the world bow their heads, that same Haranath today is lying at your feet, and yet your heart did not melt? Are you asking me to leave this Purushottama Dham and depart?”

Making his voice even more resonant, he gestured toward the ocean and continued:

🌊 “Look there! Right before you lies the ocean, a massive treasury holding infinite gems. If Haranath so desires, he can heap countless pearls and precious stones at your feet this very moment! Remember, Panda Baba, that ‘Shani’ (the Divinity) who lifted you from the dust of the road to seat you on a royal throne, that same Shani can reduce you back to a beggar on the street in a single moment if He so wills! If you do not believe it, then bear witness – upon the single call of Haranath, all the devas (gods) of Puri Dham will descend in person to joyfully partake in this feast along with the Pandas.”

🙏 Pride Shattered and a Miraculous Solution

Hearing this unprecedented, mighty form of Thakur Haranath and the thunderbolt-like words from his mouth, Narasingha Panda began to tremble violently in fear and wonder. In an instant, all the pride, arrogance, and greed in his heart vanished like vapor. He realized that the one before whom he stood was no ordinary human or saint, but the Supreme Lord of the entire universe himself.

Terrified and trembling, he fell prostrate at Thakur’s holy feet and, with tears streaming from his eyes and clasped hands, implored, “O Merciful One, please forgive me! I will not take a single penny from you for your Panda feast. I will arrange to feed all these Pandas at my own expense.” He even refused to accept any advance money.

But Thakur’s dedicated devotees would not let that happen. Sri Dwijendranath Basu of the Calcutta Tattwa Pracharini Sabha and Sri Akshay Kumar Gupta, a Police Inspector from Barisal, immediately collected exactly 2,000 rupees from the devotees present and forcibly placed it in the Panda’s hands, which he accepted with utmost devotion.

Following this, a wonderful divine play transpired:

✨ The wealthy king who had originally booked the dates to feed the Pandas was forced to leave Puri in a hurry without holding the feast, due to the sudden receipt of an urgent and alarming express telegram.

✨ Furthermore, the second wealthy individual also canceled his feast arrangements for some unknown reason.

✨ Consequently, all worldly and man-made obstacles were miraculously removed, allowing Thakur Haranath’s Panda feast to be the very first to take place.

🍛 The Grand Festival at Sri Jagannath Vallabh Math

Finally, that supreme, auspicious moment arrived. On the vast, open terrace of the famous ‘Jagannath Vallabh Math’ in Puri, approximately 3,000 Pandas were gathered and served with utmost satisfaction. Hundreds of young and enthusiastic volunteers managed this massive feast with perfect discipline and royal dignity.

Thakur Haranath himself was present at the venue, serving and supervising the meal for all the Pandas with his own hands and a loving gaze. The immense feast, which other wealthy people could not achieve even by spending 10,000 rupees, was successfully completed with ultimate grandeur and royal honor for just 2,000 rupees, owing to the miraculous will and infinite love of Thakur Haranath. 💖

Upon conclusion of the meal, all the Pandas departed with deeply satisfied and joyful hearts, chanting victory to Thakur Haranath and bowing their heads at his holy feet. The sky and air of Puri resounded with the cries of “Jai Jagannath” and “Jai Haranath.”

This unprecedented event proved that worldly wealth is insignificant before true devotion. At the touch of Thakur Haranath’s love, the pride of an arrogant heart is shattered forever, allowing the holy river of devotion to flow there. 🌺🙏
