Haranath (1865-1927 AD), endearingly known to His devotees as Pagal Haranath, was an advent for inspiring people with the path of Love towards God. He did not establish any system or institution for this purpose but the letters that He wrote to His devotees and admirers contain clear and universal messages for the struggling mankind. He shifted the scene from “intellectual” to “emotional.” He says, “God is not an object of fear but of love.” The path unto God is direct and all that is required is the aspiration. Then the path automatically becomes self-guiding and illuminated. Towards this He emphasized what Chaitanya Mahaprabhu taught the world — taste for chanting of Name, compassion towards beings and service of the pious.
