Letter No. 10
To, Daughter of Jogesh Chandra Bandopadhyaya:
Enter the world smilingly and playfully, with thoughts fixed on Krishna’s blessed feet. You may forget everything, but do not forget Krishna. Do not approach any work, the execution of which will make you repent afterwards. Never set your hand to anything that will make you hide your face. Do such work the recollection of which will make your mind happy, for such is the good work. Action, the remembrance of which sends a thrill of horror through the body, is sinful action; hence proceed cautiously that you may not trip and fall. See that every one is pleased with your work. A tender plant will turn whichever way it is turned. The path which you will now choose will be easy for you to follow. At this stage people can shape their future sphere of action, good or bad, as they choose. Better be a little careful now. Do such work which you can display without fear or shame. Your husband should be regarded as the best of gods. His parents are your parents and must be considered as living gods. The parents who bore you have given you away in marriage. If they lay any claim on you erroneously, they commit sin. Regard your father-in-law and mother-in-law as living god and goddess; if they bless you heartily, you will never have to suffer any pain. But if they are displeased with you, then you will not get pleasure even in Vaikunta.
