FORE-NOTE

(by author)

I had the good fortune of coming in contact with Divine Mother Shrimati Kusum Kumari Devi (Holy Consort of Sri Thakur Haranath) on several occasions during Her living presence in this physical world till August, 1956; and I experienced some of Her Leelas which were but a continuation of the ever-wonderful Leelas enacted by Baba (Sri Thakur Haranath ) during his life-time here (July 1865 to May 1927 ).

Although the All-merciful Baba (Sri Thakur Haranath) gave me a chance of having His Darsan so long back as in the year 1913-14. I, being only a School-boy then, was quite ignorant of His glories. It was only after I met Jagat-Japani Shrimati Kusum Kumari Devi in the year 1934 that I began to appreciate a little of the wonderful Leelas of Both of our Beloved Baba and Ma. Since that time onward the Jugal Nama “Kusum Hara” or “Kusum Haranath” began to ring in my ears and occupied my heart. It was so exceedingly charming and so very powerful.

One of the many incidents of Divine Mother Shrimati Kusum Kumari Devi’s Graces which have been experienced by me has already been published in a Bengali Booklet entitled “Mayer-Karuna”(Life saving of a girl ) – for free distribution on the auspicious occasion of Mother’s Centenary Janmotsav on 16th December, 1970 last. And now, another story of Her Divine Grace-(The Healing of a persistent disease of an infant boy) – is published in English for free distribution on the auspicious occasion of Divine Mother’s 101 st. Janmotsav on 16th December, 1971.

May the Jugal Prabhu, -Sri Sri Thakur Haranath and His Holy Consort Shrimati Kusum Kumari Devi – shower their blessings on all.

MOTHER’S GRACE

In November 1936, Mother Kusum Kumari Devi was returning from Bombay to Sonamukhi by the Bombay Mail via Nagpur. I was in Government service at Nagpur then. I, along with my wife and four young children, (two daughters and two sons) went to the Railway station to have a darsan of Mother. Many local devotees – mothers, fathers, sons and daughters,-also attended ; and all of us greeted our love-incarnate Mother and Masima (younger sister of Mother ) on their arrival at the Station platform.

After several gossips and exchanges of ‘bhabas’ ( feelings of mental inspirations and thoughts ) between the Holy Mother and Her devotees, prasad of the tea which was served to Mother, (the remnant portion of the tea lying in the cup used by Mother),-was distributed among the devotees present there,-a drop of it to everybody’s lips.

When the scheduled time of haltage of the train at Nagpur Railway Station was nearly over and the train was about to start within a minute or two, all on a sudden an idea struck in my wife’s mind. She came to learn by that time from certain older lady devotee present there, that our Great Mother’s “Charanamritam”, i.e the water with which Mother’s feet were washed, had a special healing power. She at once thought of giving a sip of Mother’s “Charanamritam” to our elder boy aged about 5 years, who had been ailing from occasional strokes of convulsion, a disease for which several medical treatments were administered during the past six months but to no effect. But how to collect water for washing Mother’s Feet at that odd moment? That was a big problem to the mother of the child. Anyway she, without losing a second moment and without telling anybody else (even myself) about what was going on in her mind, searched frantically for some water here and there, but being disappointed at not securing the same, picked up a tea-plate which was lying nearby whereon, fortunately for herself, some drops of water were discerned by her. My wife then smeared her right hand finger with the water drops lying in the plate and running to the Holy Mother touched Her Holy Feet with her finger and put it inside the boy’s mouth.

The train whistled off. All devotees departed to their respective homes with sobbing hearts feeling the separation of their Dear Mother. But a miracle was done by the Omniscient Mother by administering the divine dose of Her Charanamritam” to the ailing boy by so quiet a process. The child recovered completely from that persistent disease within a few days of sucking the nectar-drop of Holy Mother’s “Charnamritam”.

Before concluding the story of Divine Mother’s Grace (as stated above) I feel prompted to add here that through the Grace of our Beloved Baba and Ma the same boy is now a grown-up headman of a big family and is a foreign trained Engineer holding a good position in life, and is always with a mind deeply devoted to the lotus Feet of Sri Sri Kusum-Haranath.
