Letter No. 6

To, Rajani Kanta Ghosh:

     As long as a man keeps himself at a distance from Krishna, he hankers after worldly prosperity and endeavours to go ahead in that direction. But when once he utters the Name of Krishna, the world loses its charm for him, and then abandoning all his old cravings, he earnestly seeks the way to peace. Such is the power of taking Krishna’s Name.

     Like a person who is not conversant with a true diamond, keeps collecting pieces of glass, so long as Jiva is not running in the direction of Krishna, he remains attached to the world. Krishna, in His mercy, makes the Jiva taste the poison of such attachment; then He administers the antidote of Name and leads him to the right path. Hence forget everything else and chant the Name of the Lord with body, mind and soul and become His man.

     Now that you have learnt to think of your Lord, you need a lady who could serve as your messenger of love. Seek those who speak of the Lord and know His whereabouts, irrespective of their status or caste. Some may pass by without responding. Some one or other out of them may take pity on you and may enlist you in the Lord’s service. You will be beside yourself with joy, when you converse with the Lord and realise how deep is His care for you.
