Letter No. 3

To, Hema Chandra Ghosh and his wife:

     If you want to remain happy, do not forget the most sweet name of Krishna. There is no question of purity or impurity for taking Name. Like no impurity can affect fire, Krishna’s name cannot be affected by any impurity. Repetition of Name will generate Prema and through Prema Hari can be had. Feel for the distressed and helpless and be ready to bring relief to them, with money or consolation. Do not involve any one into troubles. If for any reason, you were to become angry, cast it out quickly. It is easy to pull out a sprout however big it is but when it becomes a big tree the uprooting will leave its mark. Similarly the anger; if it is allowed to grow strong, it will leave a nasty mark in the heart, if at all you succeeded to remove it. Passion, anger and similar enemies, once they find entry into the system, do not want to leave it and when driven out, leave destruction behind. Therefore do not permit such enemies into your heart. Never think of doing any harm to others; it is better to do harm than thinking of doing it. The thought is so powerful that it can catch Him who is uncatchable. Having this powerful agent as an enemy one has to remain troubled , and having it as his ally one can attain everything . When by constant repetition of Name, the heart is purified, the all-loving Krishna will make it His habitat. He will come even when not called for and will not leave even when asked to go. The joy of that state is beyond description. Thought is the cause of bondage and liberation. The lighter the thought, the higher it raises the thinker; the heavier it is, the more it bears him down. Mother should be served and tended as living God. There is no one superior to her.
